It caused a mobile portal peak, introduced new target and age groups to mobile TV and instantly became the most watched on demand content ever on mobile TV in Norway. It became so successful that NRK decided to also make it available on the Internet so that also users without TV capable phones could watch the series. It even ended up on one of the most popular shows on national TV with 850.000 viewers on a Friday night. Rubenmann was promoted on a range of different platforms and websites as NRK realised that it would never become a huge hit if it was constrained to www.nrk.no only. By using social network sites, competitors' user generated arenas and the media, Rubenmann became a national hit and received daily media coverage. Rubenmann was always referred to as the guy in the made-for-mobile TV series something that may have boosted the impression of advanced mobile services among users not familiar with wap and beyond.
